This is an antique English Aesthetic teal majolica tile made in Staffordshire, England 1870-1880s. The architectural antique tile measures .5 inches high by 6 inches square and is raised high relief floral in the Aesthetic Movement design with a gorgeous teal blue glaze.
The tile is in very good used antique condition condition with no cracks but exhibits center design and edge chipping.
There are felt adhesive circles on the back as it was used for years as a teapot trivet.
A rare survival with vibrant color which would be a wonderful trivet...I use several antique tiles that way...or mounted on a wall as a decorative accent.
